Call to Worship: Psalm 145:1-9

Hymns:

O Worship the King

We Will Glorify

Prayer of Confession and Assurance of Forgiveness:

Holy God, your name is excellent, your glory high, your compassion unfailing, your condescension wonderful, your mercy tender. We bless you for your promises of the gospel, for in them is pardon for rebels, liberty for captives, health for sick, salvation for the lost. May your approval be our only aim, your Word our only rule. In many things we have offended, in all come short of your glory; pardon our iniquity, for it is great. This we ask in the name of Jesus, our Savior and Mediator.

Hymn: Nothing but the Blood

Scripture Readings:

Isaiah 35

Luke 6:20-26

Affirmation of Faith: from the Heidelberg Catechism

Q57.  What comfort does “the resurrection of the body” give you?

A.  That after this life my soul shall be immediately taken up to Christ, its Head,  and that this flesh of mine, raised by the power of Christ, shall be reunited with my soul, and be conformed to the glorious body of Christ.

Q58. What comfort does the article concerning “the life everlasting” give you?

A.  That, since I now feel in my heart the beginning of eternal joy,  I shall possess, after this life, perfect blessedness, which no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man conceived,  and thereby praise God forever.
