Corporate Confession of Sin

Heavenly Father, you have called us to pursue the new person that we are in Christ. The person you are renewing. Forgive us for not diligently applying ourselves to the task. We have been reluctant to put off old desires, thinking, and practices. They are too familiar, too comfortable. Soften our hearts that we might want what you want. Open our eyes that we might see ourselves as you see us, complete in Christ. As we quiet ourselves to confess how we have fallen short of that glorious goal, be at work by your Spirit. Show us our sin that we might be convinced that it is sin and quickly repent. This we ask in the name of Jesus, your Son, our Savior. Amen.

Article 14: Of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

We believe that the Christian baptism is the immersion in water of a believer, into the name of the Father, and Son, and Holy Ghost; to show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem, our faith in the crucified, buried and risen Savior, with its effect, in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life; that it is prerequisite to the  privileges of a church relation, and to the Lord's Supper; in which the members of the church by the sacred use of bread and wine, are to commemorate together the dying love of Christ; preceded always by solemn self-examination.
